Setting the First Amendment on Fire
Speaking of America, it's occurred to me to star a separate page for just political rants. As you know, I've been listening to talk radio lately, which more or less makes me a pundit now. Right? I still may do this. Until then, though, I'll make a comment on the resolution that was narrowly defeated in Congress a few weeks ago, the one that would make flag burning illegal. The one they keep bringing up every few years. Go ahead, you neo-con idiots, pass the law, waste your time and money on semantic nonsense while soldiers die for Halliburton in Iraq. Once you pass the law, I'll start manufacturing 14-stripe 51-star flags, and no one will be able to tell the difference while they burn. Because I, too, might as well make some cash off of the preservation of Free Speech, eh?

(internal editor's note: I was going to post a picture of a burning flag to go with the above, but I could not bring myself to do it. I have no reason to burn the flag myself-- I love my country, and don't wish to see it destroyed, even in effigy. But I still support anyone else's right to do so. Beatrice Hall, speaking as Voltaire, said, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
