Thursday November 27th, 2003 THANKSGIVING
Mostly just watched 24 Season 2 on DVD and ate leftovers of the food that J made for me on my birthday and that J and I had made the night before. Some might think eating leftovers for Thanksgiving is pathetic, but I think it sort of makes sense. And I was feeling very thankful. Had a piece of pie with the neighbors. Later that night, S and I went to see The Missing. That movie is too long for it's own good. It was okay, otherwise, but seriously, someone needs to grow some cajones and tell Director Ron Howard that movies are for mass consumption, and the consumers get sore butts.

More 24 Season 2 on DVD. In the afternoon I grabbed 25 minutes at Tropical Tan and then bowled 12 games in 2 hours at Leilani Lanes. My scores: 121, 155, 139, 176, 192, 204, 141, 146, 122, 185, 163, and 131. That's an average of 156 with a standard deviation of 27. I wish I was a consistant bowler. Oh well-- it only cost me 5 bucks.

Then a party at RW's, where she cooked us Thai Curry. Excellent cuisine. Spent most of the night talking with RJ and LJ and S. Everyone else played Password and when the word "Player" came up, someone said my name and everybody figured it out right away. So I am a player. Too bad its been so long since I've "played" with anyone. But I'm not complaining. Much.

Finally finished the last 8 hours of 24 Season 2 on DVD. Then I went to The Garage with A G and N, but nothing much happened. Then I went down to the Tractor Tavern and met up with S-- The Clumsy Lovers were performing. Amazing. I mean just simply amazing. But this is me backdating entries so I don't have to go into detail. After that was a after-party featuring a band called Street Performer. If they get someone who can sing, and practice for a few years, they might be good.

Nothing. Helped RW with her computer, then we went and visited her friends the Js, who live in Bothell and who are 8 grown children. Only the girls were there. They're all pretty cute. specially R and L.

I'm going to back date these entries since I have nothing better to do. Today I did pretty much nothing. Except for Bowling. It was league night at Leilani Lanes. My team, The Guttersluts, was in second place, 15-18. We bowled the first place team, Team Number 4. None of them showed up. My average is 146 and I bowled a 167, a 120, and a 210. Go figure. Everyone on my team sucked on the second game so we actually lost it (since absent bowlers just get their averages). But we won the other two games, and got the 4th point for most pins. That leaves us in second 18-19.

After that I watched some Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD and ate hot dogs.

Here is my recipe for Bachelor Mousse. Take the leftover Cool Whip Topping from when you bought the pumpkin pie. Add some Hershey's Chocolate Syrup from when you made those Sundaes. Stir until you have a consistant color. Voila. Now eat it.

I'm bored so I am going to make a blog. Yes, I have nothing to report, so here's me blogging up the place. This is the first entry. How exciting.

Tonight was coffee night at Seattle's Best Coffee. Only 8 people showed (usually there's more like 20) but we had a good time. After was dinner at Guaymas (the two new people did not go) and had a Torta. I miss Taco Tico and Taco Grande, two Taco Bell-ish places in Wichita before Taco Bell. Taco Tico did something called a Sancho (basically a soft taco rolled up burrito style) and Taco Grande did a Taco Burger (taco fixings on a bun).

Life is sad when you miss Wichita.

The chiropractor says I am well healed and doing even better than would have been expected in this amount of time. That's right! I DO have a backbone!

Some telemarketer just called. I am in the final rounds of some $5000 sweepstakes. Also, I am going to get a watch in the mail. Also, if I agree to pay $3.84 a week for a year, I will get US News for a year, and Maxim and Rolling Stone for 5 years. I swear I am not making this up. I said no. I mean, Rolling Stone is something I flip through when I am at the Chiropractor's office... but Maxim is just plain insulting.

Oh, and I finished Jingo. Should I start Angels and Demons next, or The Last Continent?

Nothing too crazy today. In the morning I played Literati (Yahoo! Scrabble) and against a lady who was Italian, living in York (UK), working on her Ph.D in Health Economics... which would make me proud about winning except that she was upset about having gotten into the biggest fight, ever, with her boyfriend back in Italy. So I am a bastard.

Went to First Thursday with RW and A. First Thursday is where people go to the art galleries around Pioneer Square and act like the know what they're looking at. Here's my (latest) theory-- if it looks like it could have been done in Photoshop, it's not art. After that we ate Chinese food and then had a cuppa back at RW's place.

My dog Nikko has been sort of clingy lately. He even sits under the desk at my feet, which is usually where Brandi sits. Normally he's aloof but now he follows me around the house. A few times, I would go through a door, and come back, and Nikko would be standing right there, and get bopped on the nose by the door. Today, we had a breakthrough- as I came back through the door, Nikko danced away, exactly like an 11-year-old dog wouldn't. Hooray Nikko!

Did some bowling. Well, I threw a ball down the lanes. I would hardly call it bowling. My scores: 143, 161, 127, 128, 164, 119, 134. I simply couldn't concentrate. That 119, I think I missed the pocket nine times in a row.

Went and Saw Gothika with T. We both thought it was a 7. Nice and scary, moody, but a bit predictable, and more or less the same plot kernel as What Lies Beneath (or so I am told, never having seen it myself). After that we ate at nearby Canyons (I had a Durango and a Canyon Punch) and then back to my place for video games! Tetris Worlds, Super Mario Sunshine, and of course, Vice City. Take the most peaceful, meek, demure person, put them in front of Vice City, and the first thing they do is start punching peple on the sidewalk. Video games make people violent. Let's ban 'em. (Ban people, I mean. Not video games).

You Damn Kid is a fairly funny comic strip. I don't recall how I found it (probably memepool) but here you go. If you were ever Catholic you might find it even funnier.

Today I saw two commercials on Television (watching Law and Order) worth noting. One was for the Remington Titanium electric shaver, wherein they say "Titanium is one of the sharpest metals known to man" apparently dolphins, wildebeasts, and garter snakes know of sharper metals). Um, hello? There is no "sharpness" scale for metals. Sharpness is not a function of a metal's composition. Hardness, maybe... but even that's a stretch.
Okay. The other was an ad for AOL. A couple gets yet another AOL disc in the mail, and at last are able to complete their AOL disc sculpture on the wall of their living room. Then Jerry Stiller appears and tells them they might want to actually USE this disc-- they can use an old Snoop Dogg disc to complete the sculpture. Then Snoop Dogg walks in and says "Wait just a minizzle." THAT is FUNNY!

Oh, here is another commercial, that T sent me, cause she likes the song: Starburst Fruit and Creme.

Someone sent me this Christmas thing today. It is wrong on so many levels. (Note: requires speakers and is NOT policitcally correct.)
