Sunday February 1st, 2004. Superbowl Sunday
Read Wicked for much of the day, then went over to friend's of the neighbor's to watch the Superbowl. Since nothing else much happened, I'll use this space to say: blah game. Wasn't really in to it. I was sort of in to it last year, when it was Raiders and Bucs, but this year, well, I haven't been following football very much. So now I'll update the blog and then read some more Wicked.

Monday February 2nd, 2004
I finished Wicked, having gotten through all if it in 3 days. I am halfway through A Short History of Nearly Everything and most of the way through Me Talk Pretty One Day. This looks to be a week for reading.

I made it the gym, and grabbed a tan. 1000+ calories and some Beach Bum Rum tanning lotion.

Have you seen Brundlefly's website? Man, its pretty freakin' cool. Brent Spiner, who played Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, is 55 today. I had no idea that son of some britches was so freakin' old. Right now, if you care to know, I am whitening my teeth.

Bowled. Get this: I bowled a 145, a 205, and a 144. I walked there and walked back. And then I chopped up vegetables and chicken for the crockpot tomorrow. And then I boiled eggs for a sandwich tomorrow. I am so freakin' domesticated. And now, having used the word "freakin'" 3 times, I shall not use it anymore. Today.

The State of the Jason
Here is a brief interlude where I get some things off my chest. I have not been updating my Blog very often lately, and I hope its just a phase. It's not as if I have fans hanging on my every update, but I still want to maintain a good work ethic. There are lots of different blogs out there-- some are just day-to-day description of day-to-day activities, less a "diary" and more a "journal" if you know what the difference is (and don't bother with dictionary.com if you don't-- I'm talking about connotations here, not denotations). Others do delve more into thoughts and feelings, impressions and other emotional outpourrings. Still others are just meme-pool catalogs of webby-info related to one's activities. Mine is a kind of a mixture of these. Its an outlet, a means by which to do something creative on a regular basis, not unlike the weekly horoscopes of a year ago or even the short stories I used to write all the damn time. That I have not been enthusiastic about it as of late is telling, in that it is a matter of discipline, not desire, that keeps me at the computer, and lord knows I need discipline. so that's good. But look for there to be a subtle change in the tone of the blog, as I struggle with this.

Okay, thanks for listening. Now I will find some very goofy and entirely inapropriate image to accompany this entry.

I Blog therefore I am. Okay not really.

Work. The gym. Sweating. The calories. MP3s. A shower, a shave, a nap. The house smelling like crock potted chicken and vegetables. Egg salad sandwiches and a mountain dew code red, uncapitalized to show it has no power over me. Some Bryson, some Sedaris. Some tea. The walk to SBC for Coffee, the Guaymas, the walk home, listening to Mad Capsule Markets' Midi Surf over and over again. Here are the lyrics; they are meaningless:

Strive Everybody
If you're hungry
You get nothing unless you do something
Everybody
If you're hungry
You get nothing unless you strive
Sou Ore no koe Omaera no koto Kotogotoku Kaete koso
AP to rojikku to AK ga aru
Ore no atama wa mou MIDI SURFER MIND
I'm going MAD from Distorted Sound
Yatsu wa buchinuku kami no sazukemono
AP to rojikku to AK ga aru
Omaera mo norikonashite yaru
I'm stoked this fine day

I just like the music. Its thrashy, Japanese, frenetic. Great for running.

Man, I can't remember what I did this day. It involved the usual things. I tutored at 4. Algebra. The subject was Pascal's Triangle. I invented a version of this same triangle when I was a lad, before I'd ever heard of it. That makes me some kind of genius I guess. Later that evening I hung out with some folks AT the Broadway Grill on Capitol Hill. But not before I bought some Homie's at Urban Outfitters. I now have ALL of series 1, 4, 5, and 6. Maybe I'll drive to the Everett Mall and get me the rest of series 2 and 3. At the Broadway Grill, by the by, I had their yukon gold mashed potatoes and chocolate shake laced with Kahlúa. Drunk factor: 0.

La la la. I should stop with the day-to-day reports and start putting down my thoughts and feelings. Nah.

Hopped on Seattle Craig's List, saw an ad for someone who wanted to walk around Greenlake, so we met, and we walked, and that's that.

Was supposed to meet Shirekin at Archie McPhee's to buy supplies but, dag nabbit, Archie McPhee's is closed until February 24th! So instead we had dinner at Madame K's. The place is styled after a brothell. Very nice. They have brothell clothes on racks you can don while eating. There was one woman there who was, for some reason, dressed in only a slip. Did she lose a bet? We had pizza. At the end of the meal, the waitress said, care for some dessert? one of our chocolate orgasms? Shirekin started to reply to the "dessert" part of the question, not having caught the orgasm part, and said "we're going home to make our own." So when the waitress brought back our receipt, she had written on there "have fun with the orgasms!" Isn't that sweet?

It occured to me put in the up-to-date-stats section a line for "days since last orgasm" but then I figure, in as much as this is my blog and I can do whatever I want with it, I nevertheless want people read this thing, so I'll keep the too personal information to myself I think. I mean, some things are just better left unsaid, you know?

I played some Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Survival Horror. It took a long time to get to a point where I was even allowed to play, and not just watch the creepy freaked out lead-in nonsense. A note to video game makers: you are not directors, you are not writers. You don't know what you're doing. Stop it. Let me PLAY! Eventually they got their creep on, and I did get some good chills. But then it got repeative, and dull, and so I think I won't bother finishing this one.

You know what would make for a good survival horror video game? One based on The Ring.

So far so good. Finished Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything and Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. I shall Finish the Michael York audio book version of Stephen Hawkings The Theory of Everything, and then I shall re-begin Robert Coover's Gerald's Party.

Went to Tookoo's office where she was hosting an art showing of a local artist's excellence. And it was. Except I couldn't get a good cell signal, and was expecting a call, so I had to run up to Volunteer Park, and then back to get my coat, and then I drove over to pick up Sinjarmi and we met Helioscope and her friend from out of town Tewnani at the Scarlet Tree for some vittles and some live music. Helio and Tweni left to go dancing and Me and Sin just chilled.

For no good reason, here's my right arm.

Saturday February 7th, 2004
Started off with Puzzle Pirates (which I have been playing for a while but have failed to mention). I am Bloodybukk, and I have been increasing my skills in Bilge Pumping, Sailing, Carpentry, The Gunnery, Sword Fighting, and Drinking. I am on the verge of joining a REAL crew so I can finally get some Navigation experience.

Hooked up with Kukuriku to do some shopping. Frogs and Desks. First we had lunch at The Attic in Madison Park, then hit a toy store called Izilla I found ducks. Next we drove hither and yon. Yon took us to the Boeing Surplus Supply Store, where K found her desks (maybe) and I got a HUGE white board for the office. What is even awesomer is it has a TRAY for the markers. Score. Then we got some coffee at Bigfoot Java and hit the Game Stop to pick up Dance Dance Revolution 2, which I have been hunting for a few weeks now. Back to her place, and I drove home, and on the way, hit another toy store called Pinocchio near the U Village (but not in it) where I got more ducks and frogs.

Later, the party started. There was much much much drinking. And Red Thai Curry. And Light Cubes. And Dance Dance Revolution. Maxicor is the freakin awesomest DDR dude I have ever seen in my life. Dude was playing TWO pads At the SAME TIME! As things winded down ('wound' down? "winded" looks like it's pronounced "whin-did and "wound" looks like its pronounced "wooond." Let's see: dictionary.com says the correct word is "wound," pronounced "wownd." Huh) we decided to walk over to IHOP but it was CLOSED so folks grabbed some Krispy Kreme Donuts instead, and we munched as everyone cleaned up.
