Fnord
I forgot to mention that I got a haircut yesterday, at the Gene Juarez. Oh Yez. Too off most of the blond but left a little frosting. I run the risk of looking like a sad man desperate to return to the 80s, which would be funny since I didn't like the 80s much. Anyhoo. Today I had to fix my garage door, which led to cleaning out the garage, which led to mowing the yard. That's like twice in 2 months! I'm like a the Martha Stewart of grass, here. Okay no.

Read some very interesting articles on Wikipedia last night. If you are bored, look up: Synchonicty, Littlewood's law, the Pauli Effect, Serendipity, Apophenia, Pareidolia, and the number 23. I think I'm going to write a story about it all.

Okay, MySpace is bein a punk and not letting me use copy/paste, so I better post this before it goes south. Later, skaters.

bliggedy blog
Blog this blog that and that's a fact cause the blog-on crew will blog your body right back like a steam blogomotive right off the track with the whole wide world under blog attack... (brought to you not by Newcleus).

Hi all. So, what's been going on. Let's see, we played kickball on Sunday and lost. I know only losers say it's the umps' fault... which makes me a loser. BS calls, not a lot of 'em, just a few. Put a damper on my afternoon. Oh well.

Coffee was last night, a coupla new faces, and that was fun. Tonight is class, and then I have reasons for not being able to blog for a while. I bet you are SO sad about that. Meh, I haven't gotten anything interesting to say anyways. Right now, I'm scanning my hard drive because I accidentally deleted a file. I don't even know what it was.

I'll try to be interesting later.

Parkour
Okay, let's see how much I can say about tis subject before I have to stop because rtght now I am waiting for class to start in the NSCC CCNA lab. It actually is more than just a CCNA lab, but that's why I am here. Technically class srarted 4 minutes ago but that's hardly a factor since there's only 3 of us in class and things are sort of lacksidasical. Ha. I already typed too much and haven't even started. Reminds me of being a student back at SJSU where I would write stories between tutoring sessions. Some of those puppies won awards so laugh with me all the way to the unemployement line-- even published writers don't make jack.

What was I going to talk about-- oh, yeah. Parkour. The GF bought a TV at Best Buy and a buddy with a truck helped me take it to her home the day after, since her car was too small for the box. While waiting for the paperwork, he mentioned www.youtube.com, so I decided to check it out, and in doing so, came across a cool video, called Parkour

Turns out it's a clip from a French film that had it's US debut at the Seattle International Film Festival last year, and will have a limited US release this year, in June. So I was thinking about it, and wondering if there where any groups practicing Parkour in Seattle, and would I be able to go film them. One day I'm in the commode, leafing through a recent issue of Seattle Magazine (more on that later) and lo, there's a two-inch article about Parkour. Nuts.

A few days later, a friend of mine sends out a general-alert e-mail to inform us that her cell phone was whack, and we'd be unable to contact her for a few days. Randomly, she included a video clip to feats our eyes, and you guessed it, sure enough-- it's the same clip.

I wonder if I can load the clip here? I'll try. Stay tuned for that too.

I'll have to check previous blogs, but didn't I talk about reading up in Wikipedia about synchronicity, serendipity, as well as apophenia and pareidolia? So, am I crazy, or is something going on? I'm inclined to think it's nothing. But there's been other random occurence that I can fit inot this web. I hesitate to name them now, as I am afraid certain person might be reading this... I'll let you know on that, too.

So much to do!

Egad
Egad it's been a few days. Sorry, for those of you addicted to the boredom. I was in BC, Victoria and Vancouver, with the in-laws. Okay, I'm not married, but what else do you call them? Gudrati have a different word for every flavor of aunt and uncle-- in English, your dad's sister, mom's sister, dad's brother's wife, and sister's brother's wife, all have a different word, and also variations of the sister is older than your parent as well. It's very moralistic, so I don't know if there's names for your girlfriend's parents, but English is the king of simplicity, so why not cal them in-laws.

It was a good weekend. We saw Buschart Gardens, Craigdarroch Castle (photo, right), Grouse Mountain, and bunches of other schtuff. We had really good Mexican food at a place with awful service, and I got a Nanaimo bar, which is the best chocolate bar ever invented by humans, though I suspect angels where involved.

Other thoughts deserve bloggation as well; I'll do them in different posts to save your brain space.

Seattle Magazine
Apropos of nothing, I'll mention Seattle Magazine. I did say I would in the last blog entry, so there you go.

I don't like it.

I mean, its okay, but I get the feeling it repeats itself too much. I mean, there's only a handful of neighborhoods, and only so many restaurants. Because they sure as heck don't review ALL of them. They stick to the... trendy? No, not trendy. I guess they DO accurately capture a certain Seattle attitude, which is apposed to be merely trendy. Like being non trendy is trendy. Like green is the new pink. You know-- black always works as a clothing color, and sometimes something crazy works for a season, and that's pink, and so pink is the new black, and then something else becomes the crazy color, and so green is the new pink. So black is stable, pink is trendy, and green is the trend of non-trendy.

That's what Seattle Magazine feels like. They have pictures of local celebrities, which are usually just demi-politicoes at fund-raisers. And they feature some local architectural wow-space that no one will ever get to see or afford. They smarmily disparage some local now-moment as just a warholian quinze, but if it turns out the phenomena has lasting power, they "apologize" in 4 inches with an eighth-page photo, just to show they notice they phemom first (Most recently-- they dissed local sweethearts Smoosh, only to come back and say "okay, you're not so bad afterall."

They have their "IN" and "OUT" comparison chart, which I've always hated, their nod to some new chef, their "discovery" of some hidden neighborhood, their umpteenth reminder that record label Sub-Pop is here, their umpteenth reference to Paul Allen, and so on and on and on... all wrapped in that smarmy attitude, that breezy high-end yuppie, expensive beer commercial, BMW and REI and SBC.

I like REI, and SBC. BMW is okay. I'm no baseball fan, and neither is Seattle Magazine ("Go to a Mariners game, and after they lose, go to Pyramid for a beer," they say in the what to do this summer issue). Oh, but when Ichiro et al are WINNING, they'll make ya think their the only die-hard fans in town.

You know what the magazine is? Its all those cool, interesting, down-to-earth people you've met in one coffee shop or another, gotten to know through the course of a chat about a book you saw one read or their pet dog panting outside or they coincidence of your both taking your half-latte's with no foam, extra hot, and just one baglette of sugar in the raw. You know, the ones who give you their number, and who take your number, and who you never hear from again for the rest of your life. Seattle's got the most robust witness protection plan in the world-- just chat up a mafioso in a coffee shop, and you'll never cross paths again.

That's what the magazine is like. Its like those people. And I don't like it. It's not that it's shallow... it just doesn't feel loyal.

Okay, rant over. Bye!
